This series of portraits are a collection of photographs of people who Juli enjoys to create.
Portraits represent the artist's start with photographs since she first got a camera in the late 90's, and it is also a way she finds to communicate current issues, also a way to interact with people and to be able to learn about their cultures, their stories and their lives. These photographs include images from fictitious characters, strangers, friends, families to commissions and personalities, who are mostly in the arts, humanitarian or environmental fields.

“- ‘Manacá’ is Juli Manara’s first solo exhibition in London and it will bring together experimental photographs, sculptures and videos that explore nature and its transformations, including two new works by the Brazilian artist who has lived in England for almost fifteen years, recalling the modernist tradition of celebrating natural elements in the search for “genuinely Brazilian” art. Manara has a deep connection with the natural world, and her works reflect this, by blending the real with the surreal. References to the manacá flower are present in several of these creations, symbolizing Brazilian memory and identity, even after so many changes and distances“
